We’d heard a lot about El Meson before eating there—all good—so we wondered if it was going to live-up to our expectations.

We were seated within a couple of minutes, outside on the patio which overlooks ‘The Village’ of Fallbrook, CA. The owners’ son waiting on us and was very prompt at bringing us our water and ice tea. The chips were fresh and their pico de gallo was fresh and HOT!!! My partner loved it, but I became a “dipper”. That way I could enjoy it without my brain sizzling.

I ordered El Meson’s chile relleno with refried beans and Mexican rice and a chicken taco on the side. My partner actually ordered almost the same exact thing—except for getting a Adobada taco. What can I say! Great minds think alike.

Our chile rellenos were done perfectly! They had been fire-roasted, seeded and the batter was done perfectly, without being oily. The taste of the pepper was wonderful and not over-powered by the cheese or batter and was complimented by their sauce. They are accompanied by a container of warm homemade corn tortillas. YUM!

Both of us found tacos were great! The real highlight is that El Meson makes their own homemade corn tortillas. What a treat they are! In my opinion the chicken would be even better if it had been shredded, but it was still very good as was my partners Adobada taco.

El Meson is owned by a very nice couple—Estelle and Eli—whom we got to meet before leaving. Estelle loves cooking and it shows! Her husband is very proud of her and the great job she’s doing. Keep up the good work and El Meson can only continue to attract more hungry fans.
