Located at 129 E. Mission Road, Fallbrook

 

Estrella’s is a really popular Mexican restaurant with locations in both Fallbrook and Bonsall. We visited there recently with some friends. It took a while to get seated, but once we were, the chips and salsa were delivered pretty promptly.

 

The chips were “homemade” from both corn and flour tortillas. They were rather oily—especially the flour ones. The salsa is pretty Americanized, so don’t expect a big kick. In other words, I could eat it and not need a big glass of water.

 

I ordered the beef fajitas and waited hungrily. My serving of fajitas was served piled high and sizzling! Their serving would easily have fed two adults with leftovers! I thought the flavor was good, but also oily. Their accompaniments were good but did not stand out as exceptional. Both the rice and beans were pretty much what I'd expect. 

 

My partner ordered the beef taco and a chile rellano. He enjoyed both, but rated them as average on the Mexican food scale. Estrella’s does have generous servings and their prices are also average for this area. 

 

We have not tried the Bonsall Estrellas, so I cannot say whether that location is the same, better or worse than the Fallbrook location. The Bonsall location is very popular, larger and has entertainment. That may a better choice, especially if you have a larger number in your party, but be prepared for a wait.
