Crockpot Apple Butter 

Makes 4 pints


5 1/2 pounds of apples, peeled and finely chopped. You can use all of one kind or 3-4 kinds like I do. (Make sure you use ones that will cook down)

4 cups of sugar

2-3 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp. ground cloves

1/4 tsp. salt


Put apples and remaining ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine. Pour mixture  into your crockpot and cook on high for 1 hour. Turn down to low and cook 9-11 hours, stirring occasionally, until it turns thick and brown. Uncover and cook on low for 1 hour longer. Whisk until smooth. 


This recipe will make approximately 4 pints. I store ours in the refrigerator. Delicious on homemade toasted bagels.
