Gingersnaps

approx. 4 dozen

 

1 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1/4 cup molasses

1 egg

2 1/4 cup flour

2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. ground ginger

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

granulated sugar for rolling

 

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Mix brown sugar, butter, molasses and egg. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. 

 

Shape dough into rounds with a teaspoon. Roll into balls and coat with granulated sugar. Place on prepared cookie sheet about 3” apart. Bake 10-12 minutes until just set.
