Green Beans with Shallots and Garlic

4 servings


1 Tbsp. butter

1 Tbsp. olive oil

1 large shallot, chopped

7 or 8 cloves of garlic, sliced

1 pound of fresh green beans, trimmed

1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper

1/3 cup of grated parmesan cheese


Melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Cook the shallots and garlic until soft and browned lightly, about 5-8 minutes. 


Add the green beans and season with salt and pepper. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water, cover for about 5 minutes on medium heat, until the beans are tender. Remove the cover and let the water cook off.


Remove and sprinkle with parmesan to serve.
